MY BEAUTIFUL OLD PILL TIN…
... or: why I just made this motif in Airbrush …
After many years, my beautiful old pill tin came back to light during clearing up on the attic.
I had already completely forgotten and now it was back in my hand.
It was lying in an old metal box, which I had chosen as a "treasure chest" in my childhood and kept some things there
which seemed to me irretrievable and very valuable.
After opening, I found a crochet hook for ladders in silk stockings.
It was particularly important, because in the 50s and 60s, silk stockings were still very expensive
and you tried to stop the ladders with various aids such as "Uhu-Alleskleber" and nail polish at the places
where you could not see the running.
If, of course, they were lower down, these tools were no longer suitable and a crochet hook helped in this case.
Also I descried a bath ethermometer in the form of a fish.
At that time, I liked it so much, that I decided to take it out of circulation and
to deposit it in my treasure chest.
Oh, and there were also my clips with flowers on it, which once adorned my plaits.
And my glass marbles, with which we used to "knicker" on the avenue.
Besides some other things, my old pilldose also came to light.
I remember when I was 10 years old and it was given to me in a pharmacy.
At that time there were still small gifts in the pharmacies, if one came with a recipe.
It was such a gift.
As a child one looks forward to every little gift.
From now on I dragged it around with me in my pocket.
Of course the anorak had to be washed at some time.
For this my mother emptied the bags.
In 1964, there were still proper laundry rooms and big laundry days.
My mother forgot my pill tin in the laundry room.
At the time we lived in a 6-party house and other neighbors had their washing day after us.
When I realized that it was no longer there, it was already too late.
Someone else had it.
I was very sad about the loss, because it was very dear to me.
So a whole time passed, and I had already resigned myself, that I would never see it again,
until one day I had to take down the garbage, opened the garbage bin, and lo and behold, there lay my beautiful pill tin on top.
My joy was great and I decided to put it in my treasure chest so it would not get lost again.
From now on it was lying in the chest, unaware of me and almost forgotten.
In 1972, I moved into my own apartment and my treasure chest came into a moving box, which then ended up in the cellar.
Well, and everything that comes down in the cellar is still there, but is not needed anymore.
One day, I scoured through the box and disposed of the contents and carton, except for my treasure chest, where the pill tin was.
At that time one decorated his desk with all sorts of bric-a-brac, to which the old pill tin beautifully fitted.
In my 45-years in business with several moves, my pill tin always accompanied me until I went into an early age and
took my personal belongings home in a moving box and deposited it on the attic.
And now we are back at the beginning of the story.
When I held the pill tin in my hand, all the memories came to mind.
I looked at the motif on the front of the can, which showed a sibling couple.
I liked this motif and I decided to put it on paper with airbrush.
Now I must mention that this tin never served its purpose.
Of course, my pill tin got a place of honor on the shelf.
In the end, it has lived all the time and I will continue to look after it well in the future.
